These fused cartographies create a hybrid “nowhere” — a topological anomaly where the familiar coordinate system dissolves. Here, migration attains a metaphysical dimension as an experience of disorientation, producing an existential lacuna. A black spiked object, threatening the map-space with aggressive shadows, embodies an element of “hostile urbanism.” Integrated into systems of urban spatial control, it conceptually materializes the logic of alienation, further complicated by transnational regimes of surveillance and division. The inscription can only be read from a specific point, while from other angles it appears distorted and remains inaccessible for reading. Zhanna Gladko is interested in distorting the information field in the post-truth era when reality becomes illusory and fragmented, and conflicting critical discursive fields intermingle, overlap, and lose their original meanings. With the passage of time and interaction with nature, the rain and humidity the inscriptions would partly deform, erase, disappear - everything that happens to memory and history over time in the social, political and any other context.&nbsp;The artist collected ashes from burned newspapers, magazines, in which the world's media printed news about the events of 2020-2022. By juxtaposing two different sides of the information space – the artist also used expressions, phrases from the world media headlines that cover all these events, in particular the war between Russia and Ukraine – reflecting or distorting what happens in real life and demonstrating the principles characteristic of the post-truth era. All words, expressions, slogans characterize the waves of protest in time, reflect the mood of the times, and influence the future. For example, one of the important slogans of 2022 was the protest slogan of Iranian women ZAN, ZENDEGI, AZADI / زن زندگی آزادی / WOMAN. LIFE. FREEDOM. Most of the slogans in Iran have always used the word death - "death to the Shah," "death to America," "death to the dictator". Now the protesters are focusing on life. Women have become the main engine of this wave of discontent. The protests are being picked up by waves of support in other countries, by those whoby those who&nbsp;resisting colonial, patriarchal, imperialistic, and political repressions and terror. The number of protests, artivisms, anti-war initiatives, and decolonial movements is growing, and with it, new slogans, new waves that affect the future, appear. The time of the sun reaching its lowest point has in many cultures been associated with the birth of a new year, daylight hours expanding to fill the darkness. Zhanna Gladko made her Return of Lilith video during a residency at the Nida Art Colony (Vilnius Academy of Arts, Lithuania). Overcoming her long-standing bathophobia (fear of depths), on the day of the winter solstice the artist engaged in something akin to a ritual of reconnecting with the element of water by diving into the cold Baltic Sea. In astronomical terms, Lilith is a fictitious point of the Moon’s maximum distance from the Earth on its orbit. The “Return of Lilith” is more than an individual gesture of the manifestation of femininity within strictly hierarchical structures and concealed powers of the shadowed side of human personality – it is also a confirmation of the mechanism of eternal recurrence of human existence, manifested in the cyclicity of life processes of individuals (humans). A series of&nbsp; charts on transparent panels&nbsp; depict coded birth dates of the artist’s deceased female and male relatives, aligned with their individual life paths and correlation to the stellar sky. The official flag of the Belarusian government is red-green and the white-red-white flag, banned since 2020. Since 2020 any use of protest flag symbols can be subject to fines or penalties of imprisonment and detention. The exact dates and times of the official approval of both flags in different years are known (1918 / 1995). The artist took a symbolic image of a sky map at the time of the flags approval. Using a light beam, the graphic image on the glass blends into a complex unified shadow creating a general field. The artist is interested in the themes of illusory reality, layering of different segments of history, non-linearity of temporal space. It's when one reality and history coming into conflict and&nbsp;dialogue with another&nbsp;is distorted and layered.&nbsp;And it becomes a shadow zone.In the video projection, the artist walks along a forest road, gradually moving farther and farther into the forest. But the observer camera does not let the figure out of its field of view, bringing the receding figure closer each time. The camera doesn't let it out keeping it under observation, in focus&nbsp;until the figure is completely blurred and turns into a digital pixel field. The work is part of the larger cycle Inciting Force.In Ludwigsburg Zhanna Gladko constructs a space that refers to the idea of a sacral zone, a place that can be attractive at certain times and whose magnetism is difficult to overcome. It is an image of a homeland, a comfort zone, a community, a magical circle in mystical practices*... Something that is a protection from external forces, but at some point turns into an insurmountable wall or cage, limiting the freedom of personal expression. A trap, from which you can hardly get out if you don't acquire and manifest your right to autonomy and independence. * The image of a circle, a ring, refers to a sacred space that was used in magic practices. Such a circle was drawn with charcoal or chalk, thus protecting yourself from the outside. Later on, brass wire was used to make the circle. The most powerful action was considered to be when people stood in a circle, holding hands, creating a circle that united people into one community, a force. Echoes. The inscription area also collected dirt, dust and smog from Partyzanski Avenue, on which the windows of her parents' flat look. The glass stood on the balcony since the spring of 2020 for many months. In the video we can see and hear how police cars and protesters move along Partyzanski Avenue on different days during the Sunday marches in Minsk, as well as the column of protesters during the "Partyzanski March" on 18 October. The inscription FORCE FARCE FALSE refers to a time of slogans, manifestos, doubts, instability, fears and hopes, a time of anger and enthusiasm that looms in the air, a time of strength and weakness. A time of transparency and falsification of events; of fragility of the present and illusory proximity/distance, of borders; a time of anxious waiting, fear of the unknown, timelessness, illusion, phantom. The artist herself points out that this slogan is “a symbolic dedication to a turning point in time in the era of post-truth, when the flow of information is characterized by the layering, displacement and devaluation of meanings.” A fragment from the project “ Every Day.
